Tannic Reflection

A little about this painting

Several rivers in Georgia, particularly in the coastal plain region, are known for their tannic or “blackwater” characteristics. These rivers get their dark color from naturally occurring tannins leached from decaying vegetation. Some notable examples include the Satilla River, the Suwannee River, and the St. Marys River. These rivers are part of larger river basins that include other waterways with similar tannic qualities.
